Dr Cristina Tiu is associate professor at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy ”Carol Davila” Bucharest and Head of the Stroke Unit at the University Hospital Bucharest, one of the largest hospitals in Romania.
Since 2011 she has been involved in organising the network for fibrinolysis in Romania and she is the president of the Working Group of the Ministry of Health for the interventional treatment in acute stroke. She created the Romanian Registry for Interventional treatment in acute stroke (IV thrombolysis and thrombectomy in acute ischaemic stroke) after the model of the SITS – MOST registry and she is responsible for the management of the registry.
She is actively involved in the ESO-EAST project as the coordinator of the Romanian group. Every year since 2000, she has organised a three-week teaching course of cervical and cerebral ultrasound and she has written a book on Neurosonology and several book chapters.
